How To Keep Weight Off During Lockdown

With the end now hopefully in sight, we’ve put together this guide to help you keep the weight off during lockdown and make sure we return to our ‘normal’ lives with our bodies in fantastic shape. Follow these simple expert tips and you’ll be able to squeeze back into that dress just in time for summer! 


Go For a Walk Every Day 

Even in a full lockdown as we are in now, you are still allowed to leave the house for a reasonable amount of time to exercise. Going for a walk or a jog every day is great for your body and your mind; both of which are important for staying healthy through this difficult time. A brisk 20 to 30 minute walk does wonders for keeping the weight off if done regularly. As a bonus tip, while walking try to tilt your pelvis under slightly to activate your glutes and deep abdominal muscles. 


Try Probiotics

You might already be familiar with the general health benefits of caring for your gut, but what you may not know is that it can help to keep you slim.

Swap the Booze For Water

Watch Your Portions 

Eating small portions regularly is a better approach than piling up your plate high. By following this strategy, you shouldn’t ever get too hungry, and will be unlikely to be tempted to dish up big portions of food.

If you are going to pile the plate high, pile it with vegetables which are lower in calories yet your body will think you’re eating a tonne of food. It’s a sneaky trick to play on your mind! Plus, vegetables provide numerous nutrients to help boost your overall health. 


Move Around Every Hour

Whether you’re stuck working from home, studying in your bedroom or perhaps looking after little ones, in lockdown we’re all typically sat down for long periods of the day. To help boost weight loss, we need to increase our movement at regular intervals throughout the day. Every hour, get up and walk around the house, do some stretches or some light exercise movements such as a few squats, lunges or press-ups.


Move from the Couch to the Carpet 

Instead of sitting down all night on the couch while watching the TV, get on the floor and enjoy a little stretch. Carrying out some stretches when you’d normally be sat on the couch will really help your posture, release tension and ease lower back pains. It can also help with your weight loss plan because if you’re in pain, you might be more inclined to skip a day of exercise or not work out at all.
